About Santa Fe Senior Fit
Hello and welcome to Santa Fe Senior Fit, a fitness destination for seniors, 50 plus and tennis athletes, located in Santa Fe, NM. My name is Gary Schneider, owner and certified personal trainer of Santa Fe Senior Fit. I am certified through NASM (National Academy Sports Medicine). At Santa Fe Senior Fit, I want to engage and motivate seniors, people 50 plus and tennis athletes to get fit, healthy and at their best, with the best exercise, training programs and advice that is the most effective and trustworthy for you. I emphasize "SCHNE" which is Sleep, Calm, Hydration, Nutrition and Exercise. These 5 areas work together to help you get fit, healthy and at your best.
I am also a personal trainer and fitness instructor at Quail Run in Santa Fe, which is a private residential community and club with a fully equipped gym, fitness classes, tennis courts, golf course, indoor pool and more. In addition, I instruct balance, chair and chair yoga clases for Fit Group USA.
You can google how to do an exercise and find people showing you examples...some correctly, some not. Many of these people are not certified personal trainers. They don't show you what muscle(s) an exercise works or why you should perform an exercise. I do, and I show you how to progress in your workouts for better results. I am certified in personal training and specialize in fitness for seniors and tennis athletes.
I also specialize in different types of exercises routines and using progressive training programs designed specifically for seniors and tennis athletes ranging from stabilization endurance up through power training. I use different apparatus such as kettlebells, resistance bands, medicine balls, agility ladders, and more. You can print out many of my training programs to take with you to the gym or the court, or I can personally design one for you in a personal training session or online. Each week, I add new videos and write a weekly blog, called Santa Fe Fit on fitness and nutrition geared toward seniors and tennis athletes fitness.
Santa Fe is a great destination for hiking, skiing, cycling and exercising. There are many active seniors and tennis athletes that call Santa Fe, NM home and I can see why. We have beautiful mountains, a ski basin and thousands of hiking trails. We also have a active tennis community with several clubs and a new state of the art tennis facility opening this Fall called Forked Lightning. Santa Fe is a great place to exercise, train and get healthy and fit. Let me help you on your journey. I hope you stay connected to Santa Fe Senior Fit and subscribe today. Thank you!

My Story - Gary Schneider
I became certified in personal training for several reasons. One, for my own personal fitness and health, and to learn about nutrition and the human body, including the nervous, skeletal, muscular, and cardiorespiratory systems. Second, I want to help seniors and tennis athletes maximize their fitness and overall health. I myself am 66 years old and play tennis and can still do the activities I did 30 years ago. I want to help you get fit, healthy and at your best so you can do the same.
I have played sports all my life and enjoy staying fit and healthy. I have worked out for over 35 years and still exercise 5 days a week, play tennis 3 days a week on average, train clients and am also a musician, so I get a lot of daily activity in my life. I remember my first time to workout back in my high school days, I was doing a lat machine pulldown and said "what does this workout?" I was fit, but naive. I didn't start to workout with weights till my late 20's. While I was doing my regular job back then, I would play basketball at lunch at a local club but that was about it. When I moved to Houston, there wasn't a place near my work to play basketball, so a friend encouraged me to go to a gym nearby. So I did, and I was hooked. I really got into working out. I started buying Muscle & Fitness magazine and learned all I could about fitness and working out. I have worked out ever since.
Since then, my roughly 45 minute workouts include free weights, stretching, core & balance and some plyometric and SAQ (speed, agility and quickness) drills. I also change up my workouts and training systems frequently and use different modalities as well.
Exercise has so many benefits to your overall health and fitness, and it is proven to help you live longer and better. I hope my custom exercise and training program videos can help you reach your fitness and health goals. Let's get started!
